Field Control

Turn field observations into location-verified data.

An Android-based mobile field documentation app that links photographs with precise location data, organises fieldwork by project, and exports records in GIS-ready formats.

A field engineer uses the Field Control app to photograph road infrastructure, record its GPS location, and export the data in KMZ and SHP formats
Field Control organises visual and spatial field records by project and prepares them for GIS workflows.

A traceable data flow from field to office

Field Control brings visual and spatial data collected in the field into one organised, traceable, and shareable workflow. The app records real-time GPS/GNSS coordinates together with date and time information, embeds location data in captured photographs, stores each record under its project, and displays it on an interactive map. A field photograph therefore becomes more than an image: it becomes spatial evidence with a verifiable place and time.

Designed for transport surveys, infrastructure inspections, road and construction-site checks, asset inventories, archaeological documentation, forestry, and similar field operations, Field Control supports both online and offline map use. It can transform coordinates between source and target EPSG reference systems and export project data as ZIP, KMZ, or SHP (Point), ready for desktop GIS workflows and team collaboration.

By processing location and photo data locally on the device and keeping it under the user’s control, Field Control streamlines the flow of information between field and office, reduces manual record-keeping, and promotes a more consistent documentation standard.

Field Control is developed through a collaboration between TransportLab Mobility and Kocaman Pro. Combining TransportLab Mobility’s data-driven transport research with mobile software and geospatial data expertise, the app creates a dependable digital bridge from field observation to informed decision-making.

Turn field records into dependable spatial data

A single mobile workflow for project management, coordinate transformation, map review and GIS-ready export.

Project-based workflow

Organise photographs and records with project names, descriptions, and precision settings.

Location-verified photos

Record latitude, longitude, date and time, and write GPS coordinates to EXIF metadata.

Interactive map review

Display photographs from the active project—or every geotagged photograph—on a map.

Coordinate transformation

Work across reference systems by selecting source and target EPSG codes.

GIS-ready export

Share project data in ZIP, KMZ, and SHP (Point) formats.

Built for field conditions

Use online/offline maps and process project data locally on the device.

Multilingual interface

Support different user profiles and international field teams through one interface.

From field record to GIS output in three steps

01

Create your project

Name the field study and set its description and location precision preferences.

02

Capture located records

Save each photograph with GPS/GNSS coordinates, date and time, then review it on the map.

03

Export and share

Move project records into desktop GIS workflows as ZIP, KMZ, or SHP data.
